My first ProSolo wouldn't be the "true" ProSolo experience, but would definitely prove to be worthwhile. Story below.
When we woke up Sunday morning, STU had only 4 drivers, one short of a class. Luckily, we were able to recruit an extra driver to keep us in the hunt for contingency money. That would prove to be beneficial. The format of this ProSolo event would have first drivers (car numbers < 100) running their four runs followed by second drivers. This meant that my main competition (Arshad in his STi and my co-driver in my M3) would make all of their runs before I made any of mine. Arshad had difficulty putting together a good run, but Jon laid down a solid 41.619. That stood as the class-leading time until my second run, where I rattled off a 41.501. That was good enough for first place, $600 in contingency, and a spot in the Hawk Super Challenge. I made it past the first round of the Challenge, defeating former National Champion and all-around nice guy Grady Wood. But I fell to Eric Jones, the B Stock class winner, in round 2. Qualifying results are here . |
